One measure of a company's greatness is how they respond to success. At Amedisys, we believe in giving back to the local communities in which we serve; therefore, we founded a charitable private foundation, The Christen Foundation, to help give assistance to those in need. In addition, our Company helps fund not-for-profit agencies which allows our employees the chance to assist and thank those organizations in the many communities we serve. Our primary focus is on the American Heart Association, whose mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke, since many of our patients and employees have been affected or know someone who has been affected by heart disease or stroke.
The Christen Foundation
The Christen Foundation is Amedisys' charitable private foundation, which allows all of our agencies, corporate departments, and other corporate sponsors to give back to the local communities in which it serves. It was founded in 2004 on the belief that one measure of a company's greatness is how they respond to success. For this reason, the Company created the Foundation in which financial contributions can be made to fund 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organizations as well as Amedisys employees and/or their families who are in need of financial assistance. Since inception, the Foundation has assisted more than 650 separate individuals and charities in need.
Committed to the American Heart Association (AHA)
Choosing to focus on the AHA was a logical choice for Amedisys. We all know someone that has been affected by heart disease or stroke, and many of the patients we care for are also affected by these illnesses. It was also important that the AHA has such a great presence nationwide, to ensure that our employees, located nationwide, can see the good that the AHA does with their contributions in every community.
